FAQ for Velocity
◆ Is the tubeless tape on the Velocity Quill rims 21mm or 24mm? Also, does Quill's tubeless standard apply to BST-R or ETRTO?
Velocity quill rims will fit 21mm Velo tape .
BST-R is an abbreviation for Stans' "Bead Socket Technology/Road", which is the same proprietary technology/specification name as Mavic's UST. On the other hand, ETRTO is an abbreviation of "European Tire and Rim Technology Organization", which is the name of the organization that sets standards for tires and rims in Europe.
Compared to the BSD standard value (622mm for 700c), tubeless rim sidewall height, bead hook position, shape, etc., are designed to vary depending on the manufacturer/model. Similarly, tire manufacturers are also researching and developing and designing various bead diameters and bead materials for tubeless compatible and tubeless ready tires. So, I can't deny that it's still a situation where you don't know until you try it.
However, it seems that there are mainly two types of compatibility, one for the European market and the other for the North American market. Velocity is naturally designed for North America, so you can think that products for North America such as WTB, Maxxis, Panaracer tend to be compatible. However, it is not necessarily the case that tires such as Schwalbe, Continental, and Vittoria are not compatible and cannot be recommended.
◆ There are two types of VELOPLUGS . I couldn't tell just by reading the specs whether red or yellow would fit the Blunt35. I would appreciate it if you could tell me which one is suitable.
Regarding VELOPLUGS, all "red" products are compatible with Bblunt 35 and Blunt series. Other models are as follows. Color changes with or without eyelets.
・"Red" for VELOCITY rims without eyelets (only A23 and A23OC are not compatible with VELOPLUGS)
・For VELOCITY rims with "yellow" eyelets
