The newly named “Grasshopper with Wings.”
The naming of ‘Locust’ came from the icon with prehistoric wings that swarms and fills our grasslands, turning them into wastelands.
All of the singletrack paths that we love are a delicate part of nature, and if you tread on them without discretion, they will quickly turn to nothing but wasteland. It’s certainly fun to ride on rough terrain, but what if all of nature becomes a wasteland? It won’t be so fun anymore.
There are steep mountains, forests with towering trees, and gullies with flowing streams. Sometimes there are craggy wastelands, and sometimes there are deserts covered in sand as far as the eye can see. Off-road riding evokes a ton of imagery and exposes us to so many interesting environments.
We rebranded the Doppo MTB as ‘Locust’ to commit to our self-restraint, so as not to destroy such delicate environments, but also to symbolize the insect’s fearlessness for thriving in unexplored areas.
Doppo ‘Locust’ is a model that defines and restructures many of the demands of current touring bike users on the ‘Doppo MTB’, and expands the size range to allow more cyclists to ride it.
Why did we change the name from ‘Doppo MTB’ to ‘Doppo Locust’? The specifications of modern “M-T-Bs” are an ever-moving target and have become too segmented and specialized. There seems to be new models appearing one after another that make us feel a little tired and confused- wondering what this bike is actually for.
We don’t want the models in the Doppo series to have names that create a segment and ask that you- the rider feel that their purpose is limited. Doppo is manufactured with the hope that it will be a competent tool for charting your own path without being hindered by questioning your equipment. The Doppo Locust is an ideal choice for confident and calculated off-road riding.
Efficient at climbing the mountainside as well as stable coming back down, the capacity for wide footprint rubber opens up new realms for exploration. Locust allows you to feel the elegant breath of nature particularly strongly.

Carefully considered design
The Doppo Locust, originally born as a trail bike, isn't about chasing top speeds or intense action, but rather embodies the spirit of wandering off-road and maintains its identity as a tool for mountain terrain. Each component is designed with this in mind, aiming to represent autonomy.
In addition to the standard bottle cage mount on the frame, it's equipped with a 3-hole mount on the underside of the downtube. This allows for distribution of necessary tools for activities like touring, lightening the load for the rider. The frame design is convertible between 29" and 27.5", accommodating up to 2.4-inch tires for 29" and up to 2.8-inch tires for 27.5".
Doppo Original Fork
We've adopted the current mountain bike standard of a 44mm head tube, allowing not only for the included Tange original CrMo fork but also giving you the option to switch to a suspension fork (recommended around 120mm) according to your preference.
The standard fork legs are equipped with 3-hole mounts, offering high adaptability for bikepacking styles. Whether it's the constant on/off-road transitions during your everyday explorations or simply riding around tirelessly, this single fork makes it all possible.
Made with Tange tubing
The main tubing of the Doppo Locust adopts the same high-quality CrMo steel tube set from Tange as the Doppo ATB.
Right thing in the right place
It is also compatible with dropper posts and has a hidden hole in the seat tube for cable routing. Disc mounts are international at the front and post mount pedestals at the rear, as is standard on MTB bikes.
We thought that most cyclists would need a suspension fork if they wanted to enjoy trail riding in the satoyama more. Of course, the Doppo Locust was designed with suspension in mind. The slightly longer rear back and tire capacity that swallows up to 2.8″, combined with around 120mm of suspension, makes it a true trail bike.
