With the introduction of the SHIMANO 4700 series Tiagra, entry-level components now feature SHIMANO's renowned fast shifting and other advanced technologies. However, the trade-off was that downtube shifters and bar-end controllers, which had previously been available, could no longer be used. This thumb shifter was introduced to fill that gap.
This MicroShift is the only downtube shifter that can operate the SHIMANO Tiagra/4700 series.
Bar end shifters are the simplest and most reliable way to shift gears on a drop bar bike. Adjustable shift tension, fewer moving parts mean they're less prone to breakage, easier to adjust, and offer flexibility in the unlikely event of a mechanical issue.
