SIMWORKS SP31 Inner Wire

This is the SP31 inner wire manufactured by Nissen Cable. The wire is made of rust-resistant stainless steel.

The 31 strands, more than the standard 19, are formed using a technique called Warrington twist, in which strands of different diameters are densely packed together. The increased number of strands reduces the gaps between the strands, increasing rigidity in the elongation direction while also achieving greater flexibility. The tensile strength is also about 10% higher than conventional products.

The twisted wires are then ground to a nearly perfect circle and then plasma plated, which not only makes them easier to pull than wires with a fluorine coating, but also makes the coating more durable.
