About 25 mountain bikes were built under the Cielo brand name between 1978 and 1982.
Like many early mountain bikes, it had what is now known as a slack geometry designed for a relaxed ride, with a short head tube and long chainstays. The very first Cielo mountain bike Chris King built for himself was unfortunately stolen. The bike featured a red paint job, a chrome BMX cruiser-style fork, plus a custom axle he built himself to accommodate sealed bearings on Adams drum brakes. It means that It also weighed 45 pounds (about 20 kilograms). If you find it in your area, please contact Chris King and we would appreciate it if you could return it.
And I should add that the bike shown in the photos in this article is the second made mountain bike.
